How Can I Find the Facebook Ads Placement Field in Fivetran?

I need to add Meta Ads placement data to my Fivetran Facebook Ads exports. Which field should I use, and how do I add it?

Answer

In Fivetran, Meta Ads placement data is available through the platform_position breakdown. This field identifies where an ad appeared, such as Feed, Reels, or Stories.

To include placement data in an existing custom report:

1. In Fivetran, go to your Facebook Ads connection overview page.
2. Select the Settings tab.
3. Click Edit connection.
4. Find the custom report, then click Edit
5. Click Next.
6. From the Breakdowns drop-down menu, select platform_position.
7. Click Save.
8. Return to the connection overview page, then click Sync in the top right.

After the sync completes, values such as Instagram Stories and Facebook Feed appear in the custom report table under the platform_position column.
