Claude Setup Guide Beta
Follow our setup guide to connect Claude to Fivetran.
Prerequisites
To connect Claude to Fivetran, you need one or more of the following, depending on the data you want to sync:
- To sync organization-level Claude Platform data, access to a Claude Console organization with the organization Admin role
- To sync workspace-level Claude Platform data:
- Access to the Claude workspace whose data you want to sync
- A workspace role that allows you to create API keys, such as Workspace Limited Developer, Workspace Developer, or Workspace Admin
- To sync Claude Enterprise Analytics API data:
- A Claude Enterprise organization
- The Primary Owner role, which is required to enable public API access and create the required API key
- To sync Spend Limits API data:
- A Claude Enterprise organization
- Usage credits enabled for the organization
- The Primary Owner role, which is required to create the API key
- To sync Claude Compliance API data:
- A Claude Enterprise organization
- Compliance API access enabled by the Primary Owner
- Primary Owner access, or Organization Owner access if you want to create a key with only Compliance API scopes for your organization
If you need help meeting these prerequisites, contact Claude Support.
Setup instructions
(Optional) Create Admin API key
If you want to sync organization-level management and reporting data from Claude Platform, create an Admin API key. Fivetran uses this key to sync data such as organization and workspace metadata, membership details, and usage and cost reports, including Claude Code usage. We do not use this key to sync workspace-scoped resources, such as file metadata, message batches, or skills.
For more information about the data the Admin API key provides access to, see the connector overview.
Log in to the Claude Console as an organization Admin.
Go to Settings > Admin keys.
Click Create key.
Enter a name for the API key.
Select an expiration period for the key.
Click Create.
Make a note of the API key. You will need it to configure Fivetran.
You cannot recover a lost API key. Save the key securely before you close the dialog.
(Optional) Create workspace-scoped API key
If you want to sync data from a specific Claude workspace, create an API key scoped to that workspace. Fivetran uses this key to sync workspace-level resources, such as model metadata, file metadata, message batches, and skills. We do not use this key to sync organization-level resources, such as organization users and workspaces.
For more information about the data the workspace-scoped API key provides access to, see the connector overview.
A Claude connection can sync workspace-level data from only one workspace. To sync workspace-level data from multiple workspaces, create a separate connection for each workspace and provide an API key scoped to that workspace.
Log in to the Claude Console.
Go to Settings > API keys.
Click Create key.
Enter a name for the API key and select an expiration.
In the Linked account field, select your account or a service account.
Select the workspace whose data you want to sync.
Click Create key.
Make a note of the API key. You will need it to configure Fivetran.
You cannot recover a lost API key. Save the key securely before you close the dialog.
(Optional) Create Claude Enterprise Admin API key
If you want to sync data from the Claude Enterprise Analytics API, Spend Limits API, Claude Compliance API, or a combination of these data sets, create a Claude Enterprise Admin API key with the required scopes. Fivetran uses this key to sync organization-level data, such as user activity, feature usage, costs, spend limits, activity events, chats, projects, and organization membership.
For more information about the data the Claude Enterprise Admin API key provides access to, see the connector overview.
Claude Enterprise Analytics API data is available for dates on or after January 1, 2026.
Log in to Claude as a Primary Owner. If you are creating a key with Compliance API scopes only for your organization, you can log in as an Organization Owner after a Primary Owner has enabled the Compliance API.
Go to Organization settings > API.
Enable access for the data you want to sync:
- To sync Claude Enterprise Analytics API data, enable public API access.
- To sync Claude Compliance API data, enable the Compliance API. If you are an Organization Owner, ensure that a Primary Owner has already enabled it.
In the Keys section, click Create key.
Enter a name for the key.
Select the scopes for the data you want to sync:
read:analyticsto sync Claude Enterprise Analytics API dataread:spend_limitsto sync spend limits and spend-limit increase requestsread:compliance_activitiesto sync Compliance API activity eventsread:compliance_user_datato sync organization users, group members, chats, messages, projects, attachments, and document dataread:compliance_org_datato sync organization, role, permission, and group metadata
- You must select the
read:analyticsscope even if you do not want to sync Claude Enterprise Analytics API data. Fivetran uses this scope to validate the API key during the setup tests. Without this scope, the tests fail, and you cannot complete the connection setup. - You cannot change the scopes after you create the key. To add or remove scopes, create a new key.
- Fivetran only reads Compliance API data. Do not select the
delete:compliance_user_datascope because Fivetran does not use it.
Click Create.
Make a note of the API key. You will need it to configure Fivetran.
You cannot recover a lost API key. Save the key securely before you close the dialog.
Finish Fivetran configuration
- In the connection setup form, enter the Destination schema name of your choice.
- Enter one or more of the following API keys, depending on the data you want to sync:
- To sync organization-level management and reporting data from Claude Platform, enter the Admin API key you created.
- To sync workspace-level data from a specific Claude workspace, enter the Workspace API key you created.
- To sync Claude Enterprise Analytics API, Spend Limits API, or Claude Compliance API data, enter the Claude Enterprise Admin API key you created.
(Hybrid Deployment only) If your destination is configured for Hybrid Deployment, the Hybrid Deployment Agent associated with your destination is pre-selected for the connection. To assign a different agent, click Replace agent, select the agent you want to use, and click Use Agent.
- Click Save & Test. Fivetran will take it from here and sync your Claude data.
