What Is the Difference Between the Fivetran Adobe Analytics and Adobe Analytics Data Feed Connectors?
The Fivetran Adobe Analytics and Adobe Analytics Data Feed connectors both sync data from Adobe Analytics but serve different purposes.
Adobe Analytics
Our Adobe Analytics connector is a reporting connector. We recommend this connector if you want to sync the aggregated, report-level data available through the Adobe reporting layer to your destination.
Key features
- Queries data through custom reports using Adobe Analytics API version 2.0. Adobe only exposes its reporting layer to us, not raw data.
- Delivers data into custom tables with the standard
report_suite_idanddatetimefields, plus the elements, metrics, calculated metrics, and segments you define in your report. - Because Adobe delivers this data as a cube, adding or removing dimensions requires creating a new connection.
- Adobe's API limitations require us to query elements sequentially, so reports with numerous elements can slow down syncs.
- Supports both the SaaS Deployment and Hybrid Deployment models.
Adobe Analytics Data Feed
Our Adobe Analytics Data Feed connector syncs raw, hit-level clickstream data. You configure Adobe to export data feed files to a cloud file storage service on a recurring hourly or daily schedule, and Fivetran syncs those files to your destination. We recommend this connector if you need row-level event data or want to build custom metrics and workflows that aren't possible through the Reporting API.
Key features
- Syncs unsampled, hit-level raw event data from data feed files, on the hourly or daily delivery schedule you configure in Adobe.
- Requires you to set up a data feed and a supported cloud file storage service, such as FTP/FTPS, SFTP, Amazon S3, or Azure Blob Storage, in Adobe first. We infer which report suites to sync based on the files present in storage.
- Builds destination tables automatically from the structure of your data feeds, with one table per report suite and multi-valued attributes split into child tables.
- Doesn't support the creation of empty columns in your destination.
- May result in higher Monthly Active Rows (MAR) usage compared to the Adobe Analytics connector.
- Supports both the SaaS Deployment and Hybrid Deployment models.
