Zendesk Support Authorization Redirects to SSO Instead of OAuth
Issue
When you try to authorize a Zendesk Support connection with a dedicated service account, Zendesk redirects you to SSO instead of allowing you to enter the service account credentials.
Environment
Connector: Zendesk Support
Resolution
To resolve this issue:
- Open a new incognito or private browsing window.
- Go to https://<your_subdomain>.zendesk.com/access/normal.
- Log in with the dedicated account.
- In another tab in the same window, go to your Zendesk Support connection page in Fivetran.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Click Edit connection.
- Click Authorize or Re-Authorize Connection.
Fivetran uses the active Zendesk session from the incognito window to generate the OAuth token, bypassing the SSO redirect.
Cause
This issue occurs when SSO is configured for the Zendesk domain. During the standard OAuth flow, Zendesk detects the SSO configuration and redirects the authentication request to the SSO provider. This redirect prevents you from signing in directly with the intended service account.
