Error: Need Admin Approval

Issue

After authorizing a Microsoft Advertising connection, the following error appears:

Need admin approval. This app needs permission to access resources in your organization that only an admin can grant. Please ask an admin to grant permission to this app before you can use it.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, ask your IT administrator to do the following:

1. Sign into Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) as a Global Administrator or Cloud Application Administrator.

2. Go to Enterprise Applications.

3. Search for Fivetran. If Fivetran doesn't appear, change the filter from My apps to All applications.

4. In the left menu, select Permissions. In older UI versions, navigate to Security > Permissions.

5. Click Grant admin consent or Grant tenant-wide admin consent. If requested scopes appear, select the checkbox, then click Grant.

6. Wait 60 seconds, then re-authorize your Microsoft Advertising connection in Fivetran:

   i. Go to your Microsoft Advertising connection page.

   ii. Select the Settings tab.

   iii. Click Edit connection.

   iv. Click Re-Authorize Connection.

   v. Click Save & Test.

Cause

This issue occurs when your organization requires admin consent for third-party apps, but the Fivetran application has not been granted the required permissions in your Azure tenant.
