Error: AADSTS50173 The Provided Grant Has Expired Due to It Being Revoked

Issue

Syncs fail with the following errors:

• We could not connect to Microsoft Advertising because the request either is missing a required parameter or includes an unsupported parameter.
• AADSTS50173: The provided grant has expired due to it being revoked, a fresh auth token is needed. The user might have changed or reset their password.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must re-authorize the connection. First, ensure you have permission to authorize Microsoft Advertising connections, or ask another user to do this for you. For more information, see our Microsoft Advertising prerequisites.

1. In Fivetran, go to your Microsoft Advertising connection page.
2. Select the Setup tab.
3. Click Edit connection.
4. Click Re-Authorize Connection.
5. Once re-authorization is successful, click Save & Test.

If the issue persists, contact the Microsoft support team with the error code 50173 and a description of the issue.

Cause

This issue occurs when the refresh token used to authorize the connection becomes invalid. This may happen because the authorizing user changed their password, the token expired, or access was manually revoked.
