Data Mismatch for Total Impression Counts
Question
Why is impressions data different in the source and destination for Google Display & Video 360?
Answer
When Fivetran generates the report request for Google Display & Video 360, we use the default America/New_York
timezone. This is defined in Google's documentation as the canonical timezone code for report data time.
When there is a mismatch in the dimensions and metrics, the data may be aggregated differently, which creates discrepancies with the synced data.
There are two potential causes: time zone differences and configuration differences.
In case of time zone differences:
- When you are summing your engagements data, take into account that the data that Fivetran pulls has the
America/New_York
time zone and offset accordingly; - In the Google report, set the time zone to match the default time zone of
America/New_York
.
In case the dimensions and metrics configured in the connector do not match the GD&V 360 UI report configuration:
- Verify the dimensions and metrics match exactly;
- Use dimensions with
* ID
if you are viewing the data by ID in the GD&V 360 UI (e.g.,Line Item ID
).
