Custom Dimensions or Metrics Are Missing From the Custom Report Configuration Page
Issue
While creating or editing a custom report, I'm unable to add some custom dimensions or metrics because they're missing from the configuration page.
Environment
Connector: Google Analytics 4
Resolution
To resolve this issue, configure separate connectors for:
- The properties for which you've defined the applicable custom dimensions and metrics in Google Analytics 4.
- All other properties you want to sync.
To adjust an existing connector to sync your custom dimensions and metrics, do the following:
- In Fivetran, go to your Google Analytics 4 connector page.
- Select the Setup tab.
- Click Edit connection.
- Under Accounts sync mode, select Sync specific accounts.
- In the Accounts to sync field, click Edit and select the properties with the defined custom dimensions and metrics.
- Click Apply.
- Under Custom reports, click Edit to reconfigure an existing report or create a new one by clicking + Custom report. The custom dimensions and metrics should be available. See our Google Analytics 4 setup guide for more details on how to set up a custom report.
- Once done, click Save & Test.
TIP: While including a custom dimension or metric in your custom report, look for its associated API name. For more information, see Google's API Dimensions & Metrics documentation.
Now, configure a separate connector for your properties without the custom dimensions and metrics. See our Google Analytics 4 setup guide for more details.
Cause
This issue occurs when, in the connector's configuration, you include one or more properties that do not have the custom dimensions or metrics defined. For example, if you define a custom dimension for only one property, but include multiple properties in your connector's configuration, it's not possible to include it in your custom report.
