Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications - HCM Setup Guide link

Follow our setup guide to connect your Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications - HCM to Fivetran.


Prerequisiteslink

To connect your Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications - HCM to Fivetran, you need:

  • An Oracle Cloud account
  • An active Oracle Cloud Fusion subscription
  • Access to the Application Console
  • Security Manager role to access the Security Console

Setup instructionslink

Find server URLlink

  1. Log in to Oracle Cloud.

  2. Go to the Application Console.

  3. Find your Oracle application instance. If you don't have an instance, follow Oracle's instructions to create one.

  4. In the application instance details, find and make a note of the Service Environment URL (for example, https://servername.fa.us2.oraclecloud.com). You will need this to configure Fivetran.

Create userlink

  1. Log in to the Oracle Fusion Cloud Application instance for which you want to sync the data.

    NOTE: You must have the Security Manager role to create a user.

  2. On the left-hand navigation pane, click Tools > Security Console.

  3. Go to the Users page and click Add User Account.

  4. On the Add User Account page, enter the User details. Make a note of the User Name and Password. You will need them to configure Fivetran.

  5. Click Save and Close.

Create BICC and UCM roleslink

  1. Log in to the Oracle Fusion Cloud Application instance for which you want to sync the data.

    NOTE: You must have the Security Manager role to create a role.

  2. Go to Tools > Security Console.

  3. Go to the Roles page and click Create Role.

  4. On the Basic Information page, enter the following role details and click Next.

  5. On the Function Security Policies page, click Next.

  6. On the Data Security Policies page, click Next.

  7. On the Role Hierarchy page, click Add Role.

  8. In the Add Role Membership dialog box, search for the following roles:

    • ESS Administrator Role: To create and manage schedules for global data extracts or jobs
    • ORA_ASM_APPLICATION_IMPLEMENTATION_ADMIN_ABSTRACT: To get job information, describe datastore, and perform other BICC related operations
    • OBIA_EXTRACTTRANSFORMLOAD_RWD: To view and download extracted files from UCM
  9. Click Add Role Membership.

  10. Close the Add Role Membership dialog box and click Next.

  11. On the Segregation of Duties page, click Next.

  12. On the Users page, click Add User and enter the user you created in Step 2 and then click Next.

  13. On the Summary page, review the details and then click Save and Close.

Configure UCM storage for BICClink

  1. Go to the BI Applications Configuration Manager URL. Use the Server URL you found in Step 1. For example, if the server URL is https://my-oracle-fusion-cloud.oraclecloud.com, use https://my-oracle-fusion-cloud.oraclecloud.com/biacm.

  2. Log in using the User Name and Password you created in Step 2.

  3. Click Configure External Storage

  4. Go to UCM Connection tab and click Test UCM Connection. You should receive an External Storage Connection Succeeded message. Click OK

(Optional) Add custom object to an offeringlink

NOTE: We exclude tables from the syncs if they are not part of an offering.

Add a Data Store for an Offering.

(Optional) Select primary keys for custom objectslink

NOTE: We exclude tables without a defined primary key from the syncs.

  1. Log in to BI Applications Configuration Manager URL using the Server URL you found in Step 1. For example, if the server URL is https://my-oracle-fusion-cloud.oraclecloud.com, use https://my-oracle-fusion-cloud.oraclecloud.com/biacm.

  2. Log in using the User Name and Password you created in Step 2.

  3. Click Manage Offerings and Data Stores.

  4. Go to the offering associated with the custom objects.

  5. Select your custom data store.

  6. Go to the Edit Columns tab.

  7. Select the Primary Key columns.

  8. Click Save.

(Optional) Add incremental filter to custom objectlink

IMPORTANT: If an object doesn't have incremental filter then Oracle treats that object as a re-import object. Fivetran in that case extracts all the rows even in incremental syncs, which increases MAR.

  1. Enable Incremental Extract for the custom object data store.

  2. Make sure the Select List and Incremental Filter checkboxes are checked for the columns you want to sync.

Finish Fivetran configurationlink

  1. In the connector setup form, enter a Destination schema prefix.

    NOTE: The prefix applies to each replicated schema and cannot be changed once your connector is created.

  2. Enter the Server URL that you found in Step 1.

    NOTE: The Server URL must follow the https://<instance_name>.oraclecloud.com format.

  3. Enter the User Name and Password for the user you created in Step 2.
  4. Click Save & Test. Fivetran will take it from here and sync your data from your Oracle Fusion Cloud applications.
