Google Analytics 4 Setup Guide link
Follow our setup guide to connect Google Analytics 4 to Fivetran.
Prerequisiteslink
To connect Google Analytics 4 to Fivetran, you need a Google User account with permissions to access Google Analytics accounts with Google Analytics 4 properties you'd like to sync.
IMPORTANT: You must use a Google Analytics 4 property.
Setup instructionslink
In the connector setup form, enter your chosen Destination schema name.
Click Authorize with Google and log in to your Google Analytics account. Click Allow to enable Fivetran to access your Google account.
In the Historical Sync Time Frame drop-down menu, select how many months' worth of reporting data you'd like to include in your initial sync.
Choose the sync mode: Sync All Accounts or Sync Specific Accounts. If you choose Sync Specific Accounts, select the Accounts and then the Properties that you'd like to sync.
Click + Custom report.
Enter the Report name. It must be unique within this connector and must comply with Fivetran's naming conventions.
NOTE: Give the table a name you will find easy to identify with the report in the future. When you want to enable or disable the sync for a particular report once it is set up, you will do so by selecting its table in the connector's Schema tab.
(Optional) Set the Show Advanced Options toggle to ON if you want to customize reports by the selected parameters.
i. (Optional) To filter the custom report by dimension, do the following:
- In the Filter type (optional) field, select the filter type.
- In the Filter field name (optional) field, enter the exact name of the dimension that you want to filter on.
- In the Filter value (optional) field, enter the dimension value. Records with the specified dimension value will be included if you selected Include records or excluded if you selected Exclude records.
NOTE: Filtering is only enabled when all filter parameters are specified.
ii. (Optional) In the Rollback window (optional) field, enter a value between 2 and 90 (default value is 30) days.
- In the Filter type (optional) field, select the filter type.
Click Next to open the custom report edit page.
i. Select the Report template name to automatically populate dimensions and metrics with pre-defined values.
ii. To customize the set of fields populated from the selected template, do either of the following:
- Start typing the dimension's or metric's name in the search field to find it by name, and select it by checking the box.
- Select the category name on the left panel to see the relevant dimensions and metrics for that category displayed on the right, and select them by checking the box.
Click Save.
If you want to add another report, repeat steps 5 - 9.
Click Save & Test. Fivetran will take it from here and sync your data from your Google Analytics account.
