No Data Appears in the Destination After an Activation Sync Completes
Issue
No data appears in the Google Ads destination after an Activations sync completes successfully. The Last Upload timestamp is missing and the audience size is 0, even though Fivetran reports no errors.
Environment
Destination: Google Ads
Resolution
To resolve this issue, apply consent to all records by default:
- In Fivetran, go to the relevant Activation sync page.
- In the top right, select the more options menu, then click Edit.
- Under Select a Customer List > Advanced, select the checkbox next to Consent for ad personalization and Consent for ad user data.
- Select Next > Save
- Under Run Now, select Force Sync to resend the data.
Alternatively, provide consent for each record:
- Ensure that each source record contains a valid consent value, such as
GRANTED. For more information, see the Google EU user consent policy FAQs. - In Fivetran, go to the relevant Activation sync page.
- In the top right, select the more options menu, then click Edit.
- Under Set Up Google Ads Field Mappings, map the source consent fields to Consent for ad personalization and Consent for ad user data.
- Select Next > Save.
- Click Run Now to resend the data with the consent fields.
After the sync completes, check Google Ads to confirm that the Last Upload timestamp is updated and the audience size begins to populate.
Cause
This issue occurs when the Activation sync doesn't send the required Consent for ad personalization and Consent for ad user data values. Google Ads requires these consent values to process audience lists in compliance with the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA).
