Error: F_JD21AE Unable to Connect to Redshift Database

Issue

While creating an Amazon Redshift location using an IAM database user, the connection tests fail with the following error:

F_JD21AE Unable to connect to Redshift database. Password authentication failed for user.

Environment

• HVR 6
• Location: Amazon Redshift
• Authentication: IAM database user

Resolution

To resolve this issue, create a local database user and use it to connect to the Redshift database.

Cause

This issue occurs when you use an IAM database user to connect to an Amazon Redshift location, which Fivetran doesn't support.
