August 2026

We now support reading change streams from secondary instances for Amazon DocumentDB versions 5.0 and above. We no longer require a connection to the primary instance to perform incremental updates on these versions. Versions below 5.0 only support change streams on the primary instance. For more information, see our Amazon DocumentDB Setup Guide.

If you have an existing connection to an Amazon DocumentDB cluster running version 5.0 or above, and you have confirmed that Fivetran user can access change streams on the secondary instances, you can edit the connection details to connect to the secondary instances and sync from them.

February 2024

We now support parallel processing to speed up the connector's initial sync. We have also added the functionality in the connector setup form where you can now opt to add one or more replica nodes. Fivetran will use the replicas to improve the initial sync performance and balance resource utilization across the replicas. For more information, see our setup instructions.

August 2023

We have added support for Packed mode for Amazon DocumentDB Connectors to enable you to deliver your data in a different form.

All existing Amazon DocumentDB connections will continue to deliver data using the Unpacked mode. However, for new connections, you can select either Packed (recommended) or Unpacked mode for Fivetran to deliver you data. For more information, see our Pack modes document.

We now support the Data Blocking and Hashing feature for Amazon DocumentDB connections created after July 17, 2023. Learn more in our Excluding source data documentation. To enable support for this feature for connections created before or on July 17, 2023, contact our support team.
