Quickstart Data Models
Use Quickstart data models to run Fivetran's pre-built data models.
Overview
Fivetran offers dbt Core*-compatible data models for our most popular connectors, which transform your destination data into analytics-ready datasets. Quickstart data models allows you to use these pre-built data models without building out your own dbt project.
We provide both single-source and multi-source Quickstart data models. Multi-source data models model and merge data from connections of similar type. We support the following multi-source data models:
Once you set up a Quickstart data model, you can select the output models. We then run the transformations according to your selected schedule. Note that each Quickstart transformation only includes the selected output models and the intermediate data models that are required for the selected output models. You can view, edit, and delete each transformation from the Transformations page in the dashboard.
NOTE: We charge for all model runs, including both output model runs and intermediate model runs required to generate the output models. See our How Many Models Will Run for My Quickstart Transformation? FAQ to learn how to check the exact number of data models we run for your selected output models.
Available connectors
See the following list of connectors that support Quickstart data models. The list also has links to the data model documentation pages for each connector for quick navigation:
NOTE: If you'd like more connectors to support Quickstart data models, submit your request.
Prerequisites
You must have an active connection of the relevant type. For example, to use the HubSpot Quickstart data model, you must have an active HubSpot connection.
Limitations
- For single-source models, you can only associate one Quickstart data model with one connection. However, you can bulk-create Quickstart data models — one for each connection.
- You can only have one multi-source model of a given type per destination.
- You must use the same destination credentials for your Quickstart data model as you use for your connector. For example, if your connector loads data into the Test destination, you must use the Test destination to transform the data.
- Databricks on Azure destinations with OAuth authentication don't support Quickstart data models.
Supported destinations
The following destinations support Fivetran's Quickstart data models:

Schema naming
Quickstart model schema names vary depending on the connector. See the Change the Build Schema or Changing the Build Schema section of the relevant Transformation data model's documentation.
Manage data models
Add Quickstart transformation
NOTE: You can Add Quickstart Data Model when you have created a connection and it has passed the tests if the connector supports it.
Do either of the follwing:
- In your Fivetran dashboard, click Transformations in the left navigation column and select your destination.
- On the Transformations tab of the connection details page, click Add quickstart data model. In that case, the Quickstart transformation uses the default schema and all output data models, and you skip the following steps in this section.
Your Transformations page varies slightly based on whether or not you have set up any transformations and created connection in this destination:
- If you don't have any transformations and connections:
- Click the Get Started button.
- Under Quickstart data models, click Install data models.
- If you have not yet set up any transformations but have set up connections using connectors that support Quickstart data models, select the connections you want to set up the Quickstart transformations for, and click Add & run packages beside Quickstart.
- If you have set up transformations:
- Click Add Transformation.
- Add data models beside Quickstart.
- If you don't have any transformations and connections:
Select the Quickstart package type:
- Single source package - Selecting this option models each connection individually.
- Multi source - Selecting this option uses multi-source packages to model and merge data from connections of similar types supported by the package.
Select the connections you want to model by checking their boxes.
TIP: If you have not yet created a connection, you can click Add connection. You will be redirected to the connector setup form. Set up the connection, and, when the connection tests have passed, you can Add Quickstart Data Model. This will add a Quickstart data model. To run the model, you need to return to Step 1 of this section.
The Model count displays the total number of output and intermediate models used in a transformation and it automatically populates based on the source type.
NOTE: To learn more about the added output models, click View info beside the relevant mode.
(Optional) If you want to place the transformed data to a custom schema, check the Use a custom schema box and enter the name of the Custom schema.
Select the schedule. You have the following scheduling options:
- Integrated: Fivetran runs your transformation after each upstream connector has accomplished its sync. You can see the list of Upstream Connectors and Sync Frequency.
- Custom: Fivetran runs your transformation at the frequency of your choice. If you've enabled the Smart syncing option, the model won't run until connectors have completed syncing when schedules overlap. Custom scheduling allows you to select particular days of the week to run your transformation, a run frequency within a day, and when the run frequency is set to 24 hours, a particular run time for your transformation. Available run intervals are as follows:
- 1 min
- 5 min
- 15 min
- 30 min
- 1 hour
- 2 hours
- 3 hours
- 6 hours
- 8 hours
- 12 hours
- 24 hours
When you set a 24-hour run interval, you can also select a particular time to run your transformation at.
Click Save. If you are bulk-creating single-source data models, they are added as individual models in your transformation list. If you are creating a multi-source data model, it is displayed as a single data model. The Connections columns in that case displays the number of associated connections with up to three connector logos followed by an integer. For example, if your data model has 15 connections associated with it, the three logos are followed by '(+12)'.
View and edit Quickstart transformation
For instructions and details on how you can view and edit Quickstart transformations, refer to our View Transformations documentation page.
Upgrade a Quickstart data model
- Do to either of the following:
- In the transformation list, click the three dots on the right side of the relevant Quickstart transformation
- On the Transformations tab of the connector details page, click the three dots on the right side of the relevant Quickstart transformation
Click Upgrade package.
A pop-up window appears with a brief description of the upgrades and a list of the output models that are affected. Read it, then click Update package.
Delete a Quickstart data model
IMPORTANT: When you delete all output models in a Quickstart package, that package is completely removed from your dashboard, and you can no longer view its run history. If you want to schedule this transformation later, you must add a new Quickstart transformation. The new transformation will not include run history from the original model.
- Do to either of the following:
- In the transformation list, click the three dots on the right side of the relevant Quickstart transformation
- On the Transformations tab of the connector details page, click the three dots on the right side of the relevant Quickstart transformation
Click Remove transformation.
A pop-up window appears with a warning about deleting your data model. Read it, then click Remove.
