Renaming Channel

This section describes the steps for renaming a replication channel. Note that the steps will differ for cases when replication is activated in the channel and when it is not.

Renaming Channel with Activated Replication

Once replication is activated in a channel, the channel name appears in various places in the HVR Hub System, for example, it is mentioned in job names or the directory structure in the $HVR_CONFIG catalog. Simply renaming the channel is not sufficient to transmit the channel to a new name. When renaming a channel, deactivation of replication is needed to clean up files and objects related to the old channel name.

Perform the following steps to rename a channel after the channel was activated:

1. A channel can be renamed from the Channels page or from the Channel Details page:

   • On the Channels page, click the More Options icon related to the channel to be renamed and select Rename Channel.

   • On the Channel Details page, click the More Options icon at the top-right menu and select Rename Channel.

     This will open the Rename Channel dialog containing information about the channel and its replication status.
     The Deactivate Replication before Renaming option will drop all channel-related replication components. For more information on the deactivation options, see section Deactivating Replication.
     

2. Click Rename Channel.

3. In the Channel Name and Description dialog, type in a new name and optionally the description for the channel.
   

4. Click Save.

To activate replication in a renamed channel, on the Channel Details page, click Activate Replication in the top-right menu.

Renaming Channel with Non-Activated Replication

In cases when replication is deactivated or has not been yet activated in a channel, perform the following steps to rename a channel:

1. A channel can be renamed from the Channels page or from the Channel Details page:

   • On the Channels page, click the More Options icon related to the channel to be renamed and select Rename Channel.

   • On the Channel Details page, click the More Options icon at the top-right menu and select Rename Channel.

2. In the Channel Name and Description dialog, enter a new channel name and optionally a description.

3. Click Save.
