Capabilities for DB2 for z/OS
This section lists the Capabilities of HVR when using 'DB2 for z/OS'. For more information about the pre-requisites, access privileges, and other configuration requirements, see Requirements for DB2 for z/OS.
Capture
HVR supports the following capabilities on DB2 for z/OS:
- Capture changes from location (DB2 for z/OS from version 11.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Log-based capture (capture from DBMS logging system) (DB2 for z/OS from version 11.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Log-based capture of tables without a primary key (DB2 for z/OS from version 11.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Access to logs using SQL interface (DB2 for z/OS from version 11.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Log-based capture of tables with LOB column (DB2 for z/OS from version 11.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Populates column hvr_cap_user for use in ColumnProperties {hvr_cap_user} substitutions (DB2 for z/OS from version 11.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Log-based capture of truncate table statements (DB2 for z/OS from version 11.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Multiple log-based capture jobs can capture from same database (DB2 for z/OS from version 11.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Log-based capture checkpointing (action Capture /CheckpointingFrequency) (DB2 for z/OS from version 11.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
HVR does not support the following capabilities on DB2 for z/OS:
- Capture from Archive log files only.
- Log-based capture of DDL statements using action AdaptDDL.
- Direct access to logs on a file system.
- Log-based capture from hidden rowid/RRN column (ColumnProperties /CaptureFromRowId).
- Rewind log-based capture to specific time (Hvrinit option -i).
- Online refresh using accurate LSN/SCN.
- Capture from tables with basic compression.
- Hvrlogrelease to preserve journal/archives.
- Read archives from an alternative directory (Capture /ArchiveLogPath).
- Trigger-based capture (action Capture /TriggerBased).
Hub Database
HVR does not support Hub database on DB2 for z/OS.
Integrate
HVR supports the following capabilities on DB2 for z/OS:
- Integrate changes into location (DB2 for z/OS from version 10.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Integrate with /BurstCommitFrequency (DB2 for z/OS from version 10.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Continuous integration (Integrate without /Burst) (DB2 for z/OS from version 10.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Action TableProperties with /DuplicateRows for continuous integration (DB2 for z/OS from version 10.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Continuous Integrate with /OnErrorSaveFailed (without /Burst) (DB2 for z/OS from version 10.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Action Transform /SoftDelete (DB2 for z/OS from version 10.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Creation and update of HVR state tables (DB2 for z/OS from version 10.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
HVR does not support the following capabilities on DB2 for z/OS:
- Integrate with /Burst.
- Disable/enable database triggers during Integrate (/NoTriggerFiring).
- Integrate with /DbProc.
Bi-directional Replication
HVR supports the following capabilities on DB2 for z/OS:
- Detection of changes made by HVR in a bidirectional channel to prevent loop-back (DB2 for z/OS from version 11.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- CollisionDetect with /TimestampColumn (DB2 for z/OS from version 11.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
HVR does not support the following capabilities on DB2 for z/OS:
- CollisionDetect with Log-based Capture (without /TimestampColumn).
Refresh and Compare
HVR supports the following capabilities on DB2 for z/OS:
- Hvrrefresh or Hvrcompare from source location (DB2 for z/OS from version 10.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Hvrrefresh into target location (DB2 for z/OS from version 10.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Row-wise Hvrrefresh into target location (option -g) (DB2 for z/OS from version 10.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
Other Capabilities
HVR supports the following capabilities on DB2 for z/OS:
- International table and column names where DBMS is not configured with UTF-8 encoding (DB2 for z/OS from version 10.01.00 to version 12.01.05).
- Treat DBMS table names and columns as case sensitive if configured (action LocationProperties /CaseSensitiveNames defined) (DB2 for z/OS from version 10.01.00 to version 12.01.05, since HVR 5.6.5/1).
HVR does not support the following capabilities on DB2 for z/OS:
- Use distribution key for parallelizing changes within a table (ColumnProperties /DistributionKey).
