Capabilities for Db2 for i
This section lists the Capabilities of HVR when using 'DB2 for i'. For more information about the pre-requisites, access privileges, and other configuration requirements, see Requirements for DB2 for i.
Capture
HVR supports the following capabilities on DB2 for i:
- Capture changes from location (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Log-based capture (capture from DBMS logging system) (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Log-based capture of tables without a primary key (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Access to logs using SQL interface (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Log-based capture of tables with LOB column (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Log-based capture from hidden rowid/RRN column (ColumnProperties /CaptureFromRowId) (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4, since HVR 5.7.0/0).
- Rewind log-based capture to specific time (Hvrinit option -i) (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Online refresh using accurate LSN/SCN (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4, since HVR 5.3.1/12).
- Populates column hvr_cap_user for use in ColumnProperties {hvr_cap_user} substitutions (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Log-based capture of truncate table statements (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4, support depends on system setting).
- Multiple log-based capture jobs can capture from same database (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Log-based capture checkpointing (action Capture /CheckpointingFrequency) (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
HVR does not support the following capabilities on DB2 for i:
- Capture from Archive log files only.
- Direct access to logs on a file system.
- Rewind log-based capture to the beginning of currently active oldest transaction.
- Capture from tables with basic compression.
- Hvrlogrelease to preserve journal/archives.
- Read archives from an alternative directory (Capture /ArchiveLogPath).
- Trigger-based capture (action Capture /TriggerBased).
Hub Database
HVR supports Hub database on DB2 for i.
Integrate
HVR supports the following capabilities on DB2 for i:
- Integrate changes into location (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Integrate with /Burst (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Integrate with /BurstCommitFrequency (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Continuous integration (Integrate without /Burst) (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Action TableProperties with /DuplicateRows for continuous integration (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Continuous Integrate with /OnErrorSaveFailed (without /Burst) (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Action Transform /SoftDelete (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- Creation and update of HVR state tables (DB2 for i from version 7.0 to version 7.4).
HVR does not support the following capabilities on DB2 for i:
Bi-directional Replication
HVR supports the following capabilities on DB2 for i:
- Detection of changes made by HVR in a bidirectional channel to prevent loop-back (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
- CollisionDetect with /TimestampColumn (DB2 for i from version 7.2 to version 7.4).
HVR does not support the following capabilities on DB2 for i:
- CollisionDetect with Log-based Capture (without /TimestampColumn).
Refresh and Compare
HVR supports the following capabilities on DB2 for i:
- Hvrrefresh or Hvrcompare from source location (DB2 for i from version 7.0 to version 7.4).
- Hvrrefresh into target location (DB2 for i from version 7.0 to version 7.4).
- Row-wise Hvrrefresh into target location (option -g) (DB2 for i from version 7.0 to version 7.4).
Other Capabilities
HVR supports the following capabilities on DB2 for i:
- International table and column names where DBMS is not configured with UTF-8 encoding (DB2 for i from version 7.0 to version 7.4).
- Treat DBMS table names and columns as case sensitive if configured (action LocationProperties /CaseSensitiveNames defined) (DB2 for i from version 7.0 to version 7.4, since HVR 5.6.5/1).
HVR does not support the following capabilities on DB2 for i:
- Use distribution key for parallelizing changes within a table (ColumnProperties /DistributionKey).
- Distinguish and support capture from 'materialized views'.
