Error: CRS-2415: Resource HVRLsnr Cannot Be Registered

Issue

In Oracle CRS, while adding a resource for the remote listener, the following error appears:

CRS-2415: Resource 'HVRLsnr' cannot be registered because its owner 'root' is not the same as the Oracle Restart user 'grid'.

If adding the resource using the grid account, it gets created. However, the remote listener fails to start. The following error appears:

Environment

• Oracle CRS
• HVR: Remote Listener

Resolution

To resolve this issue, do the following:

1. Check that the grid user has execute privileges on the script.
2. Check that HVR_HOME and HVR_CONFIG are set, and that access privileges are granted to the applicable locations.
3. While logged in as the grid user, execute the command used to register the local resource, i.e., the information entered in ACTION_SCRIPT.
