Error: Failed to Check Create Dataset Permission

Issue

BigQuery connection tests fail. The following error appears:

Connection tests failed. BigQuery User Permissions: Failed to check Create dataset permission: US violates constraint constraints/gcp.resourceLocations on the resource.

Environment

Destination: BigQuery

Resolution

To resolve this issue, check whether your Google Cloud Platform (GCP) administrator has changed the location of your BigQuery dataset. If so, ask them to revert the change or create a new destination in Fivetran with the new location. To learn more, see How Can I Change the Data Location Region of My Fivetran Account?

NOTE: It's not possible to adjust the Data Location field in Fivetran once you have created the destination.

If your the dataset's location hasn't changed, ask your GCP administrator to set an organization policy that includes the applicable region in the list of allowed locations. For more information, see Google's Restricting Resource Locations documentation.

Cause

This issue occurs for either of the following reasons:

• Your dataset's location has changed.
• Resource location constraints in your GCP environment prevent us from creating resources in regions that aren't included in the list of allowed locations.
