Connection Error: Connect Timed Out

Issue

An error appears while setting up your SQL Server destination:

Connection error: connect timed out.

Environment

Destination: SQL Server hosted on Microsoft Azure Virtual Machine

Resolution

1. In your Microsoft Azure console, navigate to Dashboard > Virtual machines, then select your virtual machine.
2. In the left navigation pane, under Settings, click on Networking.
3. Add inbound port rules.
4. Safelist all Fivetran IP Addresses listed for your region.

Cause

Fivetran pulls data from your source and sends it to your destination using a set of fixed IP addresses. To make sure that Fivetran can do this, you must safelist these IP addresses in your firewall/networking settings.
