What Is the Optimal Snowflake Configuration?

You want to configure Snowflake for optimized use with Fivetran.

Recommendation

Fivetran recommends the following:

• X-Small Warehouse size

• Enable auto-suspension and auto-resumption

IMPORTANT: These configurations are automatically applied if you create the Snowflake warehouse according to the Fivetran setup guide.

These recommendations are the Best Practices for the vast majority of use cases:

• A smaller warehouse is sufficient unless you are bulk loading a large number of files concurrently (i.e., hundreds or thousands of files).
• A larger warehouse consumes more credits and may not result in any noticeable performance improvement.

Considerations

Syncing less data won't necessarily result in lower Snowflake costs, as there is a minimum billable compute time.
