Error: Failed to Determine Binlog Filename/Position

Issue

While setting up a connector with Google Cloud MySQL replica, the following error appears:

Failed to determine binlog filename/position.

Environment

Connector: Google Cloud MySQL

Resolution

In the Fivetran connector setup form, use the primary server instead of the replica.

Cause

We require full access to the primary instance's binlogs. Google only allows read-only access to the read replica binlogs. For more information, see our Google Cloud MySQL documentation.
