Extra Row Containing N/A Values Appears in the Destination
Issue
An extra row containing N/A values occasionally appears at the end of the Google Sheets data synced to the destination.
Environment
Connector: Google Sheets
Resolution
To troubleshoot this issue:
Identify the named range configured in Fivetran:
i. Go to the Google Sheets connection page.
ii. Select the Settings tab.
iii. Make a note of the Named Range.
In Google Sheets, go to Data > Named ranges and check the range definition. If it spans full columns, such as
A:Z, switch to a bounded range, such asA1:Z100, to exclude trailing blank or formula-generated rows.Check whether
QUERY,IMPORTRANGE, or array formulas generate extra rows. Adjust the formulas as needed to exclude these rowsCheck whether
N/Avalues exist in the source sheet or appear only after a downstream transformation.
A bounded range doesn't include new rows added beyond its limit, so it may not suit datasets that keep growing. If you use a full-column range, blank rows between records sync as null values and may contribute to Monthly Active Rows (MAR). For more information, see How Should I Define a Named Range When My Row Count Keeps Increasing?.
Cause
This issue occurs when the named range configured in Fivetran includes unintended blank or formula-generated rows in Google Sheets. This often happens when the range covers a full column or the sheet uses formulas such as QUERY or IMPORTRANGE. Fivetran syncs the sheet data exactly as configured, including these extra rows.
