What Are My Alternatives to the Browser Upload Feature?
Use Cases
- I used the Browser Upload feature to upload files directly to the destination. What are my alternatives as now it has been sunset?
- How can I ensure my team is still able to upload data similar to the Browser Upload feature while limiting access to the Fivetran dashboard?
Environment
Cloud Collaboration connectors in Magic Folder mode
Answer
We recommend using our Cloud Collaboration connectors in Magic Folder mode if you previously used the Browser Upload feature, which is now deprecated. Cloud Collaboration connectors in Magic Folder mode are an easy and effective solution to sync ad hoc file data to your destination. You can sync any supported file from your cloud folder as a table within a schema in your destination.
You can set up a folder repository within your own source environment. Give your users or team access to that folder in the usual way for that storage service. Any user with write access can upload files into the folder. Fivetran automatically syncs the files from your cloud folder to your destination.
IMPORTANT: To sync multiple files into a single destination table instead of unique tables, use Merge Mode.
Fivetran supports syncing files from the following cloud folders:
One of the benefits of Cloud Collaboration connectors in Magic Folder mode is that your users are not required to have a Fivetran account, and you can scale out data loading using services that are already widely known.
Fivetran doesn't delete data from your destination even if the file is deleted from the source folder.
Cause
We sunset our Browser Upload feature that let you upload CSV files directly to your destination.
