Accented Characters Sync as Unicode Replacement Characters

Issue

When syncing data containing accented characters (also called diacritics, such as é, ñ, or ü), those characters are replaced with the Unicode replacement character (�).

To resolve this issue, ensure your files are saved using one of our supported encoding formats.

Cause

This issue occurs when a file is encoded using an unsupported character encoding. When we can't correctly interpret a character, we substitute it with the Unicode replacement character (�).
