How Can I Monitor Latency and Throughput for Connections Using the Fivetran Proxy Agent?
Question
How can I monitor latency and throughput for connections using the Fivetran Proxy Agent?
Environment
Connection method: Proxy Agent
Answer
Fivetran doesn't provide built-in latency or throughput metrics for connections using the Proxy Agent, and the Proxy Agent logs don't include connection speed or bandwidth data. While you may occasionally see alerts during syncs, these don't always indicate performance issues, but may reflect configuration problems.
To assess performance, you can use two approaches:
Option 1: Use network and system monitoring tools
On the machine hosting the Proxy Agent, use standard monitoring tools to measure:
- Bandwidth usage
- Network latency
- Throughput over time
Option 2: Review connection sync history
In Fivetran, go to the applicable connection page. Review the Sync History chart to identify patterns or extended sync times that may indicate performance issues.
