Fivetran supports the following deployment models for SAP ERP on HANA connections:
- SaaS Deployment
- Hybrid Deployment
High-Volume Agent (HVA) support
High-Volume Agent (HVA) is not applicable for SAP S/4HANA on HANA environments. HVA is used for other SAP connectors, such as:
- SAP ECC on Oracle
- SAP ECC on SQL Server
ODP-free architecture
We do not support Operational Data Provisioning (ODP) for SAP ERP on HANA connections. Instead, we support the following connection methods:
- NetWeaver: Uses RFC calls with ABAP function modules and requires installation of the Fivetran NetWeaver API.
- HANA database: Uses a direct JDBC connection to the SAP HANA database, eliminating the need for ODP.
Neither connection method depends on ODP. Therefore, we can operate within environments where ODP access is restricted or unavailable.
Benefits of ODP-free extraction
Avoiding dependency on ODP connections can simplify large-scale data replication architectures and reduce limitations associated with ODP-based extraction methods. This approach may also provide greater flexibility compared to ETL solutions that rely exclusively on ODP for SAP data extraction.
