Licensing
You must have a valid license for using Fivetran HVR for data replication. The license contains details such as the license issue and expiry date, source/target location types that can be used for replication etc. The method of supplying license to the HVR Hub System depends on the pricing plan/licensing model selected.
Licensing Models
Following are the two licensing models available for HVR:
Consumption-based - for the Business Critical plan
Usage-based Subscription - for the Private Deployment plan
Both licensing models require reporting consumption data to Fivetran. In the "Consumption-based" model, Fivetran automatically handles usage data and license renewal. In the "Usage-based Subscription" model, user must manually send their usage data to Fivetran, while Fivetran sends a new license to the user via email for renewal.
Consumption-based
Since v6.1.0/3
In this licensing model, you must register the HVR Hub System with Fivetran server to acquire license(s).
The license is valid for 7 days. It is auto-renewed daily, with the issue and expiry dates incremented by one day each time. For example, if you registered on March 10th, the license issue and expiry dates would be March 10th and March 17th, respectively. On March 11th, the license would be auto-renewed, resulting in the issue date updated to March 11th, and the expiry date updated to March 18th.
To register the HVR Hub System with the Fivetran server, you must have access to fivetran.com (35.236.237.87) from your web browser.
To register a newly installed HVR Hub System with the Fivetran server, use one of the following methods:
- For browser-based setup, see Setting up HVR Hub from Browser.
- For CLI-based setup, see Setting up HVR Hub from CLI.
To register an existing HVR Hub System with the Fivetran server, use one of the following methods:
- In the HVR UI, navigate to System ▶ Licensing.
- In the CLI, use the hvrlicense command.
For details on how the Consumption-based licensing model works in an HVR High-Availability environment, see the related FAQ article.
Usage-based Subscription
In this licensing model, you need to manually add/register the license file (with .lic extension) to HVR Hub System.
After purchasing the software, Fivetran technical support team will send you the license file via email. In case you have not received the license file or have questions regarding the license file, contact Fivetran technical support.
The license is valid for 6 months or until the end of your contract, whichever is sooner.

Multi-Licensing
Usage-based Subscription supports multi-licensing, which allows you to add multiple license files for your HVR Hub System. For example, one license might allow a certain number of sources or targets, while another license might enable a specific feature such as SapUnpack. These licenses have an 'additive' effect, which implies that if one license permits access to three source locations while another allows two, your HVR Hub System can utilize up to five source locations.
