Propel Setup Guide Partner-Built Private Preview

Follow the setup guide to connect Propel to Fivetran.

Prerequisites

To connect Propel to Fivetran, you need the following:

• A Propel account.
• A Fivetran account with permission to add destinations.
• The Propel Application must have the ADMIN scope.

Setup instructions

Create Propel application

You must create a Propel Application. Propel Applications provide the API credentials, allowing the Fivetran destination to access the Propel API.

1. Log in to the Propel Console.

2. Go to the Applications section and click Create Application.

3. Enter the Unique Name. For example, 'Fivetran Destination'.

4. Provide a Description. For example, 'The Fivetran Destination app'.

5. In the API scopes section, in the Scopes drop-down menu, select the ADMIN scope.

6. In the Propeller section, in the Select Propeller drop-down menu, select the processing power as per your requirements.

7. Click Create.

   

8. Make a note of the Application ID and secret. You will need them to configure Fivetran.

Finish Fivetran configuration

1. Log in to your Fivetran account.
2. Go to the Destinations page and click Add destination.
3. Enter a Destination name of your choice and then click Add.
4. Select Propel as the destination type.
5. Enter the Application ID and Secret you found in Step 1.
6. Choose the Data processing location.
7. Choose your Time zone.
8. Click Save & Test.

Fivetran tests and validates the Propel connection. On successful completion of the setup test, you can sync your data using Fivetran connectors to the Propel destination.

In addition, Fivetran automatically configures a Fivetran Platform Connector to transfer the connector logs and account metadata to a schema in this destination. The Fivetran Platform Connector enables you to monitor your connectors, track your usage, and audit changes. The connector sends all these details at the destination level.

IMPORTANT: If you are an Account Administrator, you can manually add the Fivetran Platform Connector on an account level so that it syncs all the metadata and logs for all the destinations in your account to a single destination. If an account-level Fivetran Platform Connector is already configured in a destination in your Fivetran account, then we don't add destination-level Fivetran Platform Connectors to the new destinations you create.

Setup test

Fivetran performs the following Propel connection test:

• The Connection test checks if we can connect to your Propel account through the API using the Application ID and secret you provided in the setup form.
