Error: Revalidate TLS Certificate
Issue
The following error frequently appears:
Revalidate TLS Certificate
Environment
Database Connectors
Answer
To revalidate the TLS certificate, do the following:
In your Fivetran dashboard, select the database connector that has the TLS certificate error.
Click Test Connection.
You will be prompted in a popup window to accept a TLS certificate. Follow the instructions to accept the certificate.
Upon a successful connection, the error will be resolved.
If your connector still fails to reconnect with an error message, you might need to force the prompt of the new TLS certificate:
- Go to Manage Account > Settings.
- Scroll down to Validated Certificates & Keys.
- Delete the trusted certificate for the connector.
- Repeat the steps to revalidate.
Cause
TLS certificate revalidation errors are caused by the following:
- Database reboots that reset the certificate
- An expired certificate
- A modified certificate
More information
TLS certificates have an expiration date or are renewed by your database service. When you do not issue the certificates and your database service manages them, these are usually self-signed certificates.
Self-signed certificates do not have a well-known Certification Authority (CA), and for security reasons, we need you to trust these for your account. Once the certificate is trusted, we will remember it as long as it is not expired.
