Do New Tables Count Towards MAR?
Question
When adding a new table to the schema, does this count towards the monthly active rows (MAR)? Or will this be treated as an initial sync?
Answer
New tables are treated like an initial sync. New tables count towards free MAR, except for rows that are incrementally synced. A table is considered new during an incremental sync if it wasn’t a part of the connection’s schema or it was disabled during the initial sync. This can happen when:
- A new table is created in the source.
- The user gains access to previously inaccessible tables.
- A schema change introduces a new table.
If a table is added during a connection free use period, incremental updates in new tables count towards free MAR. This table will not extend the connection free use period and will receive free incremental MAR until the trial ends. This period will be shorter than 14 days if, for example, the table was added on the 7th day of a connection free use period.
You can check in your dashboard if a table has been synced before:
- Log in to your Fivetran dashboard.
- Go to Connections.
- Select the relevant connection from the list.
- On the Connection details page, click the Usage tab.
- The Usage breakdown by table section details monthly usage related to specific tables.
- Use the drop-down menu at the top of the tab to switch months. If a table has no MAR usage associated to it, then it has never been synced.
We charge only for changed rows in re-imported tables that are included in an initial sync.
