Do I Need a New License to Add a Hybrid Deployment Agent?
Question
I want to use separate Hybrid Deployment Agents to manage PII and non-PII connections in our production environment. Do I need a new license, or will creating another agent affect my bill?
Environment
Deployment model: Hybrid Deployment
Answer
No, adding a Hybrid Deployment Agent doesn't require a new license, contract update, or additional payment to Fivetran. Hybrid Deployment is available on the Enterprise and Business Critical plans. When you create your first agent, we prompt you to sign the Fivetran On-Prem Software License Addendum, as described in the Hybrid Deployment requirements. You don't need to sign additional agreements when you create more agents.
We don't charge for agents or limit the number you can create. You continue to be billed for monthly active rows (MAR) according to your existing agreement, including an Enterprise License Agreement (ELA), if applicable. Therefore, you can use separate agents for PII and non-PII connections or critical and non-critical workloads without affecting your Fivetran bill.
However, additional agents may increase your infrastructure costs:
- With Docker or Podman, each agent must run on a separate host or virtual machine.
- With Kubernetes, multiple agents can run in the same cluster, but each agent must use a separate namespace.
Each agent requires at least 2 vCPUs and 2 GB of RAM. Each connection requires at least 2 vCPUs and 4 GB of RAM. For more information, see our sizing guidelines.
