What's changing?
Fivetran is moving all existing customers on our Standard Select plan to our Free plan on February 1, 2023. Here are the key differences between Fivetran's Standard Select and Free plan:
- This plan is now free
- We removed the 1-user cap - now you can add as many users as you like
This plan is still month-to-month and the plan usage limit will remain the same as Standard Select at 500,000 MAR. Here is what is included in this plan:
- Access to Application, Events, and Files Data Sources
- Access to Database Sources (excluding Oracle and High-Volume Agent Connectors)
- Up to 15-minute syncs
- Integration with dbt Core*, Quickstart data models, and prebuilt data models
- SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications
- Individual and account level 2-step verification
- End-to-end data encryption
- Single sign-on (SSO)
- Select data processing locations
- SSH Tunneling
- Access to REST API
- 24/7 global email support
- Access to the Fivetran community
You can view features across all plans here.
When will these changes go into effect?
Standard Select, pay-as-you-go plan customers, will see these changes go into effect on February 1, 2023.
What is changing on my Billing and Usage pages?
Migrated Standard Select customers will still be able to view usage from previous months they were on Standard Select and also view their spend on those months.
After the migration, customers will still be able to view their usage monthly.
Users with the View Billing and View Usage account permissions can see an account's monthly usage and MAR on the Billing and Usage page. See our account management documentation for more information.
What happens if I exceed 500,000 MAR?
If you exceed your monthly volume limit of 500,000 MAR, you can either optimize your usage by removing tables or connectors, or upgrade to a paid plan. We'll give you a one-time grace period, so your Fivetran account will continue working seamlessly during the next billing cycle to allow you time and flexibility. During this time, you will not be able to add new connectors that month. Existing connectors will continue to run with no issue.
If your account exceeds 500,000 MAR a second time:
- Your connectors will be paused and your account will be frozen.
- To continue using Fivetran's services, you can unfreeze your account for 24-hours and upgrade to one of our paid plans by upgrading to a different plan in your dashboard.
Our free plan is best for customers with low data volumes. If you expect to exceed 500,000 MAR regularly, you are most likely a good fit for a paid plan.
How do I upgrade to a paid plan?
If your volumes exceeded or are likely to exceed 500,000 monthly active rows per month, you may want to try a paid plan. You can select any plan on our billing page and continue paying month-to-month, or you can enjoy the benefits of Fivetran's built-in 5% committed-spend discount by signing a contract ($12k minimum). To learn about annual commitments, contact sales@fivetran.com.
Benefits of a paid plan:
- Automate data pipelines for volumes and use cases above 500,000 MAR.
- Unlock premium support on our paid plans.
- 24-hour SLA on Starter.
- SLA for system uptime on Standard.
- SLA for 1-hour response time on Enterprise.
- Get insights faster with 5-minute syncs on our Enterprise plan.
- If your data team is growing, upgrade to Starter plan so you can add 10 users, or Standard to add as many users as you need.
How can I monitor my usage?
We automatically notify you when your usage reaches 70% of the usage limit, but you can set up additional notifications on your Billing page to receive alerts when your account is approaching 500,000 MAR.
How can I see if a new table or connector will increase my usage above 500,000 rows?
We have a couple of ways to help you estimate how new usage impacts your monthly costs. Firstly, every new connector you add comes with 14-days of free usage and a usage estimate at day 7. Secondly, you can use your Usage estimator to view MAR and pricing for all of your active connectors, newly added connectors, and planned MAR.
NOTE: You get one 14-day free use period per destination schema name and connector type pairing. If you reuse a schema name, the MAR from that connector counts towards the 500,000 MAR limit because it is ineligible for a free use period. Learn more in our free use period limitations documentation.
What if my monthly usage already exceeds 500,000 MAR?
If you are currently on the Standard Select plan and your usage already exceeds 500,000 MAR, we recommend you upgrade to a paid plan now to avoid disruptions in your service and enjoy potential savings.
Since we are providing a one-time, one-month grace period, you will not be automatically charged for overages after February 1, 2023. But you will have until the end of the following billing cycle to change to a paid plan before your account and connectors are frozen.
In addition, you may get potential savings by upgrading now if you are only using Starter plan features. Our current Standard Select plan charges at the Standard plan rate for volumes above 500,000 MAR. By switching to Starter, you'll be charged our lower-cost, Starter rates. You can change plans on your Billing page and compare all of our Starter and Standard features at fivetran.com/pricing/features.
