Fivetran Doubles Revenue and Customers in 2020

2020 was a year of incredible growth and momentum for Fivetran — we doubled both our revenue and our customer base. Our customer roster now includes leading companies like ASICS, Autodesk, BJ’s Restaurants, Conagra Brands, DocuSign, Forever 21, Lionsgate, Square, Strava, Urban Outfitters and Ziff Davis. We also increased our workforce to nearly 500, opening new offices in Germany, France, India and Australia. We added new data centers in those regions and Canada to meet local data governance needs.

These achievements feel particularly gratifying because they stem from a long-held belief: Data is the lifeblood of the modern economy and the key to innovation and growth. To leverage it efficiently, organizations need to be able to rapidly pivot from gathering data to generating insights. At the heart of our growth is our product: always-available, maintenance-free data pipelines that allow our customers to extract data from any source and centralize it in a modern data warehouse. We manage more than 700,000 schema changes every month — events that often break legacy ETL pipelines and need to be fixed by data engineers. Rather than building and maintaining in-house pipelines, our customers can focus their engineering efforts on higher-value projects and maximize their data potential.

2020 highlights

Enterprise-class infrastructure with 99.9 percent uptime

A key focus area in 2020 was enterprise-class infrastructure, including improved reliability. Managing more than one million syncs daily, we’re able to guarantee 99.9 percent data pipeline uptime. We also have a global team of more than 200 software and customer success engineers who maintain our portfolio of data connectors 24/7/365. We’re delighted to see our service commitment translate into an industry-leading 93 percent customer satisfaction rating, along with consistently high marks for our support team.

Product enhancements and deeper integrations

It was a big year for product enhancements and features, including new enterprise database connectors for IBM, SAP and Oracle. We added integration for dbt, the popular open-source analytics engineering tool maintained by Fishtown Analytics, which allows analysts and engineers to transform data for immediate use. We also advanced our integration with Databricks, which accelerates time to value by enabling BI in its Delta Lake and Lakehouse architectures.

Making data analytics accessible to everyone

We want to empower every organization to unlock the potential of their data, so we’ve made it quick, easy and simple for anyone to get started with Fivetran. We introduced online purchasing so you can “pay as you go” with a credit card. That means anyone can get started with a flexible, no-commitment plan. We’re also offering 14-day free usage for every new connector you add to your Fivetran account.

Powering data products

We know that developers want to dedicate their time to creating great digital experiences, not building and maintaining data integrations. That’s why we launched Powered by Fivetran — a simple framework that allows developers to embed Fivetran data pipelines in their applications and onboard data from customers.
